An exciting new presence on the classical music scene, soprano Robin Rubendunst continues to impress with her versatility and ability to take on a challenge. She has sung diverse roles including Ariadne in Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos with Genesis Opera, Marguerite in Gounod's Faust with the New York Opera Forum, and Donna Anna and Musetta with Newton Opera.
Ms. Rubendunst's 2006-07 begins on September 24, 2006 when she offers a recital of Schubert songs with world renowned pianist John Wustman at Tilling House in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She is honored to join the studio of select resident artists at Sarasota Opera in January, 2007.
In past seasons, she has been heard as the voice of the High Priestess in Carolyn Sebron's production of Aida, a "captivating" Hanna Glawari in Hudson Opera Theatre's production of The Merry Widow, and in the title role of Marenka in The Bartered Bride. A New York critic recently described her as "an artist of international caliber," adding that "Her full-throated lyric spinto sound and assured high notes were as pleasurable to the ear, as her demeanor was to the eye."
Ms. Rubendunst's collaboration with the Polish Theatre Institute began with their production of Stanislaw Moniuszko's Halka. This production was presented at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse in New York City, and numerous venues throughout Poland.
She has appeared in concert in New York City with Maestro Pablo Zinger in programs featuring the complete songs of Ignaz Paderewski, and songs and arias by Richard Strauss. Last fall, she sang her first Sieglinde in Wagner's Die Walküre.
A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Ms. Rubendunst participated in the prestigious Phyllis Curtin Seminars at Tanglewood. She is the proud recipient of an "Encouragement Award" from the Richard Wagner Society of New York.
