Here is just some of what the critics are saying about Lori Lind's first Violetta:

"From the moment Lind appeared on stage, she showed herself a superb singer whose thrilling high notes, dazzling coloratura passages, and seamless legato met all one's expectations."

"As singer and consummate actress, she commands the stage, especially in the exciting 'Libiamo, libiamo ne lieti calici' and in her poignantly beautiful, expressive singing in the love duet with Alfredo. Her solo lines in 'Sempre libera,' suitably decorated with abundant coloratura passages and scintillating high notes, are a passionate statement extolling the freedom and pleasure Violetta finds in living. After all this appropriate vocal display, she is quite right to insert a sizzling high Eb in the final cadence."

Congratulations to Jorge Ocasio who has just been named as one of Puerto Rico's most famous persons!

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jorge Ocasio has appeared as special guest soloist in Puerto Rico's Puccini Gala and in New York's Verdi Marathon. Most recently, he received glowing reviews for Dulcamara with Opera Brooklyn and The Regina Opera Company. One critic wrote of this consummate characterization: "Jorge Ocasio steals the show in 'Elixir.' The role of Dr. Dulcamara was vividly brought to life by Jorge Ocasio who, like the great singing actor Tito Gobbi, could instantly grip the audience's attention. Ocasio, with his lustrous dark basso and perfect operatic stagecraft charmed us all with his 'Udite, udite, o rustici.' Ocasio's Act 2 duet with Adina was great fun! Ocasio recalled the memory of the great Baccaloni, who was an unforgettable Dulcamara. (Of course Ocasio is much slimmer.)"

Talise Trevigne's recent performances as Lucia elicited universal and unreserved praise from audiences, critics and opera cognoscenti. Lauded for her exquisite singing, spellbinding presence and peerless acting, one critic compared her to Maria Callas. Another wrote, "Her great skill and her beauty transfixed her audience, and I, no less than anyone else present, was entranced by a voice that we will be hearing for many years to come. Every scene in which Trevigne appeared was memorable… I doubt that even Joan Sutherland in her best days could have done any better." Truly a star on the rise, she is "the buzz" of the opera world!

Ms. Trevigne's début performances of Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs in Chicago garnered enthusiastic praise from the Tribune's senior music critic, John von Rhein: "Trevigne commands a lyric coloratura soprano of striking freshness and beauty. She has the radiant high notes and creamy timbre one expects from a Strauss soprano and the ability to float long, arching phrases over a lush orchestra."

Her recent UK recital début with Roger Vignoles was a soaring success. Ms. Trevigne will sing the leading role of "The Beloved" in Liza Lim's new opera The Navigator. This cutting edge production premieres at the Brisbane Arts Festival on July 30.
