BIOGRAPHY
Marco Minà was born in Latina, Italy, where he started to study guitar from an early age. He completed his musical studies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan (Prof. Ruggero Chiesa), graduating with high honors. He studied Aesthetics and the History of Music (Prof. Pierluigi Petrobelli) at the Universita La Sapienza in Rome, graduating cum laude. He holds a Master's Degree in Instrumental Pedagogy from the Conservatoire of Music L. Refice in Frosinone, and in Performance from Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Vecchi-Tonelli in Modena. He also holds degrees in lute from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome (Andrea Damiani) and in continuo playing from the Arrigo Boito Conservatory of Music in Parma (Marco Pesci). He participated in master classes given by Oscar Ghiglia and Ruggero Chiesa at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, with Bruno Canino and Alexander Lonquich at the Campus Internazionale di Musica at Castello Sermoneta Caetani and at the Amici della Musica in Florence. He holds a Dilpoma di Merito from the Scuola Superiore Internazionale Trio di Trieste.
He has served as professor of guitar at the Nino Rota Conservatory of Music in Monopoli, at the Scuola Civica di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Prato, at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Vecchi-Tonelli in Modena, of the Methodology of Instrumental Teaching and History of Performing Arts from Renaissance to the Contemporary Music at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatory of Music in Ferrara. Mr. Minà regularly gives master classes throughout Europe.
An exceptionally versatile artist, Marco Minà's repertoire ranges from Renaissance and Baroque works, through a myriad of pieces by classical and romantic composers, played on original instruments, into many of contemporary music's most avant-garde compositions.
He has given highly praised recitals for many prestigious presenters including Siena's Accademia Musicale Chigiana Campus Internazionale di Musica-Festival Pontino in Sermoneta Caetani Castle, Associazione Amici di Castel S. Angelo in Rome, ARTIS in Verona, Grandezze & Meraviglie in Modena, Ecole Normale in Paris, to Sir Yehudi Menuhin School in Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey-England, King's College, St. Martin in the Fields, Royal Academy, BBC Proms, Salysbury Cathedral Season, Royal Danish Academy, Djeuga Palace Yaundè and Akwa Palace Douala (Cameroun), Birmingham Conservatoire of Music Mirbacov Palac in Bratislava-Rep. Slovacca, to Marmorsaal der Sektkelleri Henkel & Co. Wiesbaden-Germany, to Italia-Musica, Theresianischen Akademie and Klangbogen Sommer in Vienna, as solo Guitar with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, and as guest guitarist at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Hamburg and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Marco Minà has frequently collaborated in the performing, drama and didactics fields with artists as Hans Werner Henze, Vittorio Zago, Luca Lombardi, Alexander Lonquich, Lavinia Bertotti, Manuela Mandracchia Furio Zanasi, Riccardo Minasi, Eduardo Eguez, Luca Giardini, Gabriella Martellacci.
Among his many awards and distinctions he has won top prizes from the International Competition City of Stresa, Grosseto, Camaiore, and Cento, the Premio Rovere d'Oro, and Paris' Prix Franz Liszt.
He has recorded and broadcast with BBC Radio, RAI Radio, Radio Vaticana, Radio France, Slovak and Österreiches Radio. His latest video Guitarevolution is regularly telecast on Sky-Classical.
Mr. Minà is currently records with the Musica NovAntiqua label.
